PTU and The Legend of Speed

The alleyway from PTU
submitted by Ryan Passmore

Reader Ryan Passmore submitted this shot he took of an alley off Queen's Road in Central (near the Tourist Information Centre). Ryan states that he is 95% sure it's the same alley that Lam Suet lost his gun in during the early minutes of Johnnie To's PTU. We tend to agree.

<< A scene from PTU. It seems that Ryan's picture was taken farther down the alley than this screenshot was, though the similar architecture and layout seems to suggest we have a match.

<< Another scene from PTU. While the screenshot is again more shallow than Ryan's picture, the tiling on the floor seems to be the same. Nice find, Ryan!

Bangkok Chinatown from
The Legend of Speed
submitted by Daniel Lavoie

Reader Daniel Lavoie submitted this picture, which doesn't qualify as Hong Kong, but certainly is a distinctive location from a Hong Kong film. In this case, the flick is the kickass Ekin Cheng street racing flick The Legend of Speed. In the featured sequence, Sky (Cheng) has just checked into a Bangkok hotel in search of his long-lost dad (Blackie Ko). The location is also featured in a sequence where Cheng stabs Moses Chan Ho with an AIDS-infected syringe, but we've decided not to take screenshots of that part.

Actual shots from the film, which show the same signs and buildings. We also get fine views of Ekin Cheng's magnificent, god-like hair.
