Review
by Kozo: |
The
United Filmmakers Organization (UFO) brings us this sensitive but
ultimately unfulfilling comedy-drama about a young couple’s struggle
to achieve parenthood. Basically she wants a baby, he doesn’t, and
then the reverse happens. Screen duo Lau Ching-Wan and Anita Yuen
are fine as the parents, with Yuen edging Lau in the acting department.
Still, the film grows scattered thanks to plot threads that never
truly cohere. Director-writer Cheung Chi-Sing eventually relies
on the hackneyed flashback montage to tie everything together. A
classy, well-observed effort, but not an entirely successful one.
