Francoise
Yip is Fion Wong, an investment banker who’s set up to lose $100
million when she buys into an oil well scheme with Indonesian
millionaire Donson Woo. When Donson betrays her, she jets to Indonesia
to confront him. Once there, she discovers that the man she thought
was Donson is not. Instead, Michael Chow is Donson Woo, a spoiled
millionaire who spends his time hunting, watching movies, and
not doing anything to help his business. Donson gets set up too,
and eventually he and Fion go on the lam when their enemies frame
them for more than a little money laundering. Pang Dan is Donson
Woo’s sexy secretary.
The decent set up to this techo-thriller
is ruined by the plot twists, which just don’t gel with the rest
of the film. Sure, the twists help surprise the audience, but
they make absolutely no sense with the earlier sections of the
film. Sloppy filmmaking aside, the film provides some low-brow
entertainment. Pang Dan does an oddly out-of-place striptease,
and Yip is sexy, but that really isn’t anything new. The action
is decent, if not somewhat questionable. When did Donson Woo,
spoiled millionaire, learn how to kick ass so well? The biggest
plus here is an accurate computer interface, which is new for
nearly any film made nowadays. Sadly, that isn't much to write
home about. (Kozo 1997)
