Hey
kids: DON'T WATCH THIS MOVIE. However, consenting adults
could get a kick out of this outrageous Category III
comedy that is consistently funny instead of sick or
titillating. A Hong Kong Cinema cult classic. Find out
why. |

Review
by Kozo: |
Hong Kong Cinema's seminal screwfest is a campy, over-the-top
Category III film about a monk-to-be (Lawrence Ng) and
his prosthetic horse penis. That's right: he has his
own member lopped off and replaced with a horse's, all
in the name of increased prowess. Despite his marriage
to the top-heavy Amy Yip, Ng decides to take his big
guy and hit the road and experience life as a well-hung
fellow. Kent Cheng is the quack who operates on his
member and Tsui Kam-Kong is a cuckolded husband who
gains revenge by going after Yip.
Based on a seventeenth century
novel entitled "The Carnal Prayer", Sex
and Zen has attained cult status thanks to its over-the-top
raunchiness and bizarre sensibilities. The absurd presentation
is laudable because it's just so damn strange and works
hard to be more than typical Category III exploitation
fodder. At times the sex is played for laughs rather
than titillation, and the actors are so gleeful in their
performances that they become engaging. This movie is
ABSOLUTELY NOT for the kids, but it's great if you’re
drunk or want to embarrass your guests. (Kozo
