The
outspoken and versatile Anthony Wong Chau-Sang was
born on September 2, 1961, to a Chinese mother and
a British father. He began his acting career at
ATV and then attended the Academy of Performing
arts. He made his film debut in 1985, but the role
that made him famous was Wong Chi-Hang in Herman
Yau's The Untold Story, a real-life serial
killer who used his victims' remains for pork bun
filling. Wong won his first Best Actor Hong Kong
film award for that performance.
In the mid-nineties Wong
was diagnosed with a thyroid disorder, but he managed
to make a full recovery AND won another Best Actor
award for 1998's Beast Cops. In 2003, Wong
he was a triple nominee in the Best Supporting Actor
category for the films Princess D, Just
One Look and Infernal Affairs, and took
home the award for the last film. He was also given
a Best Actor award by the Hong Kong Film Critics
Society for Infernal Affairs, and received
a Best Supporting Actor award at the Taiwan Golden
Horse Awards for Princess D.
Besides being an award-winning
film actor, Anthony Wong has acted in more than
100 films and TV dramas, directed two films, and
still has time to release the occasional punk music
